Weekend Astrology- Sun, Pluto, Venus and Mercury

The first week of 2017 has nearly come to a close, and I’m tying up loose ends from 2016, catching up on emails, text messages and client work!

This week has felt like some kind of strange vortex for me straddling the old and the new. Today’s astrology in particular is potentially volatile yet empowering, and will be an energy that will continue into the weekend.
The Moon has reached her first quarter phase with the Sun in Capricorn and the Moon in Aries. This moon phase is known to be one associated with pushing against obstacles, wanting to make progress and gain momentum. The Sun is just a little over 24 hours from making his annual conjunction with planetary big-wig, Pluto.

Pluto is a planet that symbolises power and control. The upcoming few days may highlight where you’ve allowed your light to be dimmed, or your power be taken away. Making the realisation that someone else has been pulling the strings can be quite confronting. This spirit of the Aries moon can help you meet this truth head-on and gain your independent spirit back.

Another once a year event is Venus joining the South Node at 4 degrees of Pisces. In May, the nodal axis will shift from Virgo/Pisces to Leo/Aquarius so this is the last conjunction Venus will make to the South Node in Pisces for 18 years.

While this is an aspect about looking back on your love past, rather than looking forward, it offers the opportunity to release, especially surrounding issues in play since November 2015. This weekend brings the opportunity to learn from past love mistakes, and then look forward to a brighter future in your romantic life.

Mercury has now dipped back into Sagittarius covering degrees last visited at the very beginning of December. Now stationed, the winged messenger is at his most intense now. If you have Mercury prominent in your own chart, or the later degrees of fire signs feature, the next few days may likely reveal the theme of 2017’s Mercury retrogrades for you.
