It feels like it’s been ages since I sat down and wrote a blog post about what’s happening in the sky. I’ve been in catch up mode after a Mercury retrograde issue popped up involving my USB and my son. Let’s just say my take away from this recent retrograde phase is that IT hardware and toddlers don’t mix!
A Common Thread
Over the last several weeks, I’ve been busier than normal with client consultations. One of the key themes that has been coming up is change. We all have a unique relationship to change. Some of us embrace it, cheering ‘bring it’ while others almost feel an anxiety attack at the mere thought of doing something outside of their comfort zone.
Some astrological indicators of those who prefer their comfort zone are the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo and Aquarius as well as a strong Saturn or Earth signature in the birth chart.
Resistance is Futile
When it comes to change, most of us want the end result, but the process of changing can be uncomfortable, and sometimes even painful. The desire for change derives from not being completely happy or satisfied with what has been or currently is. Perhaps it’s a feeling of agitation or irritation that is hard to shake. Too often, people get stuck. It’s not that they don’t know deep within their heart what they want something to change, it’s more about the fear of the unknown.
If you do what you’ve always done, then you’ll get what you’ve always got.
This quote popped up during a video rant on a Facebook group I’m in about nutrition and training. It also reminds me of the definition of insanity- doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
Change is the only constant in life. It’s totally and completely unavoidable. Change can happen in two ways- from you or to you.
From you is when it’s ‘conscious’ and you’re in a place of agitation or discomfort about the status quo and yearning for something else, something more or, something different. You recognise the feeling within and take the according action to produce a desired result. Generally speaking, the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn can sniff out change like a beagle. Those with a strongly placed Mars often embrace the waves of change.
Then there is the ‘unconscious’ change. This is the type that most struggle with. This is the type that comes from out of the blue, causing sudden shocks or chaos. These type of events might be a relationship break-up or job loss. Though devastating at the time, they are often a catalyst that send you on a course correction you would have never embarked upon otherwise.
Saturn Trine Uranus- Supporting New Possibilities
The trine between Saturn and Uranus is one of the standout aspects of 2017. The second of three aspects between these two planets occurs between May 11- 25 at 26 degrees of Aries/Sagittarius.
The first aspect occurred back in December 2016 at 20 degrees Aries/Sagittarius and the third will be November 2017, at 25 degrees.
Saturn demands you toe the line. He helps you bring structure, stability and security in life through boundaries, duty and limits. Respect for tradition is highlighted within Saturn’s rings.
While on the other hand, the call of Uranus is to dare to be different. Be a non-conformist. Be radical, innovative and original. Uranus barracks for your independence, freedom and for your personal authenticity.
Although seemingly opposite influences in life, we often need to balance our fears or limitations around the promise of something new, exciting or different. We can get stuck if we let fear limit us. We can also get burnt if we blindly charge forward into unchartered territory.
Take A Chance!
The astrology of May brings the second trine between Saturn and Uranus. Across the fire signs of Aries and Sagittarius you’ll be inspired to take action (Aries- Cardinal) and to embrace movement (Sagittarius- Mutable).
Throughout May, you can make some fast-paced progress, especially where you’ve been feeling stuck, heavy or where you’d normally spend more time in deliberation.
Through the element of fire, both Aries and Sagittarius can inspire and uplift you. Be guided towards hunches or that instinctive knowing. This is a ‘strike while the iron is hot’ type of energy and not the time to be umming or ahhing about which direction to take.
Under the supportive influence of the trine aspect, you can reach new frontiers and heightened levels of personal happiness and authenticity by taking a chance!
