Courage + Bravery and the Lunar Eclipse

The intensity is raised this week as we head into a very important and active sky.

The dry and clear winter nights here in Australia are providing some of the most amazing opportunities for sky watching. As Mars retrogrades at his most southern declination he’ll be in for another 75 years, we sure have the prime location to see Mars up close and personal.

As the planet of bravery and courage, Mars in reverse and super close can help analyse a few things in our life, especially in the area of life that holds the sign of Aquarius in your birth chart. Standing on the opposite side of the Sun, he’s high and dry so to speak. Exposed, vulnerable and alone, Mars is licking his wounds from battle, proverbially speaking, realising that another course of action is required to move forward.

I’ve been spending a bit of time with Mars each night and the serenity prayer that my grandmother would always refer to comes up a lot.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

When the warrior planet Mars is in reverse, choosing your battles becomes key. Knowing what to let go of, and having the courage to do so is bravery.

As Mars continues over the South Node of the Moon until Tuesday the 24th, anything that has held you back can be released. Feelings, things, situations or even people in your life that you’ve held on to or have been limiting influences in your life, or been the source of frustration.

As we lead up to this eclipse on the 28th, you may notice the need to shed feelings, things, situations or even people from your life.

Anger, angst and frustration may bubble up to the surface as the energy of the lunar eclipse begins to peak. A lunar eclipse is like a full moon on steroids, so the intensity of emotion is heightened and the need for change or a turning point necessary.

Falling at 5 degrees Aquarius, this eclipse forms a T-square to Uranus. Change is in the air. Out with the old and in with the new. Once you let go of fear and restraints anything is possible.

Just prior to the eclipse peaking, Mercury beings a retrograde phase in Leo, highlighting that the way forward may need to be thought out or planned carefully. Creating a plan can boost your confidence about how you want to be seen as your authentic self.

Mercury will wind up his retrograde phase on August 18/19 and fully come out of the shadow phase as September begins. It may take until then for your eclipse plans and promises to take shape.
