Cosmic Catalogue- August 29 – September 4

Monday
Mercury stations late this evening at 29 degrees of Virgo, in preparation for his next retrograde phase.
In the sign of Virgo, Mercury is super powerful as he is said to be in both the sign of his rulership and exaltation. This combination sees the ability to communicate in a logical, critical yet helpful manner. Being overly concerned with the details though, can have the effect of not being able to see the bigger picture.
Mercury retrograde in Virgo can make the focus on details excruciating, especially for those who tend to gloss over the finer points most of the time. If you’re anything like me, who tends to say yes and then works out the details as you go, you could get a little unstuck!

Mercury retrogrades are prime periods for s.l.o.w.i.n.g down. Our lives are now filled with endless data, busy schedules and to-do lists as long as your arm. With 4 other planets in the earthly and discriminating sign of Virgo, this retrograde promises to cull unnecessary and impractical tasks.
Until September 21- focus on what you can do and do it well.

Relationships may also be a cause for focus during this retrograde as Mercury stations cuddled right up to Venus. Mercury holds the trump card in this embrace as Venus is said to be in her fall in the sign of Virgo- in other words, Venus can’t do what she does best here. Venus loves to enjoy all the good things life has to offer, you know, sipping wine, basking in the sunset glow, which is kind of hard to do when you’re fussing over the details or grumpy because the house is a mess.

The next few weeks you may come to the conclusion about what isn’t working in your current relationship, either professional or personal. It might be about recognising the factors that aren’t working so well and looking to improve upon that.
Jolly Jupiter is also implicated in this detailed orientated scenario. Together, Venus and Jupiter, known as the benefics, promise growth, abundance and good times. Their offerings are limited in the sign of Virgo, where neither are too pleased to be in. If you’ve worked hard over the past 12 months to improve your efficiency and managed to operate with a less-is-more approach, then you can expect rewards and good graces.

As is standard with Mercury retrogrades, it would be wise to back up your computers, mobile phones and devices. As I write this on Friday afternoon, I’m seeing reports on my Facebook feed about issues with IPhone already!
If you’re taking a holiday or work related travel, be sure to allow extra time for delays, miss-placed luggage and general snafus. If you can’t delay entering a contractual arrangement or making a significant purchase, just be sure to triple check- we’re talking Virgo here, double checking isn’t enough- the fine print.
Mercury stations retrograde at 9 degrees Virgo.

Tuesday
Venus has turned the tables and is now in her sign of rulership, Libra. Now in the element of air, Venus is poised to communicate harmoniously in a way that is focused on win/win outcomes. Comfort and pleasure is derived from the feeling of peace and tranquillity. With the desire for comfort and harmony being so strong, there can be an avoidance of unpleasant exchanges, which can potentially block deeper connections.
Venus in Libra is a highly social placement and encourages you to get out and cultivate contacts and friendships. Until September 23, networking and general social interactions are highlighted.

Virgo
Thursday
New Moon Solar Eclipse 10 Degrees Virgo
With a predominance of Virgo planets, the eclipse will highlight was is ‘real’ rather than ‘ideal.’ In Bernadette Brady’s must-have book “The Eagle and the Lark” she describes this eclipse… ‘the individual will become aware of an old situation, and see it for what it is rather than what he or she thought it was.’
Saturn linking to the eclipse will emphasise the concept of what is real, practical and tangible. Saturn doesn’t tolerate dreams or ideas. He shows things up for what they really are. He asks that you practice patience and practical strategies if you truly wish to manifest a dream.
With Neptune up close and personal with the South Node, letting go of fantasies or illusions will help clear away old baggage, both emotional and physical. This may be letting go a relationship or simply giving your living or work space a good clean up! Letting go of what is no longer needed will help you re-gain a new sense of clarity to embrace the fresh start a Solar Eclipse promises.
The house that holds the sign of Virgo in your birth chart will show where you can expect a good cosmic clean up!

Friday

Sun Opposite Neptune and Square Saturn
This is the last pesky entanglement of the Saturn and Neptune aspect that has been ebbing and flowing since November 2015.
The Sun’s connection here will reinvigorate eclipse themes from earlier this week. Shifting dreams and changing realities will help you define your most important priorities.
